Doctor Who Prop Hunt

This one needs to be credited to Zoe’s Feather Boa. ZFB is someone who has helped me a lot since I started this blog. They frequently post about props they have spotted on Bluesky. Make sure to give them a follow at zoesfeatherboa.bsky.social. They mentioned these thermostat props a while ago. I haven’t found them anywhere else so here are the appearances they found. THE SEEDS OF DEATH,1969 Seeds features two of these props, and they are subtly different. In the shot above you can see the prop has a light coloured face. But when it’s shown in the close up, seen in the picture below, the face is much darker. The text is white, or at least a light tone, while it appears darker in the first picture.  THE SEEDS OF DEATH, 1969 COLONY IN SPACE, 1971 The pair of Thermostats next pop up, both with darkly coloured faces, in Colony in Space. Hello folks! This weeks prop is one I figured would have turned up a bit more. There is a good chance I’ve missed plenty, but presented here are four appearances and I reckon that’s enough for a post! If you know of any more occasions this object turns up please do get in touch. The object in question is the wedge shaped console on the far right of the picture from The Space Museum. THE SPACE MUSEUM, 1965 Many of the props from this story were hired from a prop store, which makes sense when we see where this object appeared next. CURSE OF THE FLY, 1965 I previously mentioned this film in connection to that dome shaped thing in the middle of the picture. But behind it you can also see the wedge shaped console. Hello folks! I must apologise for the lateness of this post. I usually like to get something out every weekend, but just didn’t have anything ready last week. Hopefully I should be back to a regular schedule this coming weekend. In the meantime here is a short post about chrome discs! I know, I know, I spoil you guys. THE POWER OF THE DALEKS, 1966 The objects we are looking at are the large chrome discs at appear on the arches of the Dalek capsule. If you are not sure what I’m referring to, they are on the left of this image. An arch of five of these discs are to the left of the door. And a further three discs can be seen in a row behind. I’m calling these ‘silver frisbees’. THE WHEEL IN SPACE, 1968 A couple of years later and the frisbees are used as set dressing once more. COLONY IN SPACE, 1971 This is the last appearance I have found. And it’s possible I might be going out in a limb with this one. Hey guys. I’m a bit tight for time this week so I thought I’d just provide a few updates on props I have looked at in the past. Probably the best place to start is with the prop I looked at last week .  COLONY IN SPACE, 1971 David Brunt  let me know that four of the pill shaped props from my last post can be seen at the conclusion of Colony.  THE MOONBASE, 1967 I first wrote about the unusual stools from The Sensorites  here and again here . I was watching The Moonbase the other day and I spotted a very brief cameo I’d previously missed. One of these stools can be found hiding out with the Cybermen in the shadows of a store room. THE MUPPET SHOW, 1976-81 In the top left of this Pigs in Space screen grab are the vac formed cupboards from Peter Evan’s Studios. I wrote about their Doctor Who appearances here .
